We believe in finding a better way, doing the right thing and expecting the best.

Comfort Research was founded in 1996 when my friend, Chip George and I started messing around with making a version of a giant foam filled bean bag chair. The first ones were pretty bad but we kept at it and found ways to improve them and eventually started selling them around colleges during welcome week. We even had a small store in the Holland Outlet Mall. Now, over 22 years later, we have gotten pretty good at making cool things all the while building the Big Joe brand.

I am a big believer that culture eats strategy for breakfast and at our company we live it. We have worked tirelessly to identify, reward, and recognize our culture through those that are living it.

We believe in simple messages to create strategic alignment. We also believe in simple products. In order to achieve these things you must rethink everything. We try to be a bit more clever in everything we do. 

Through the principles above, we are able to lead the company and the 250+ amazing people that make up our team are able to lead in return.

The company has always been a high an innovative growth company. We have plants in MI, TN and and UT. And we are having a lot of fun doing it!

Comfort Research has a strategic plan which we call our MAP that we like to post anywhere and everywhere that we can find the space. It includes our highest goals as a company and how we plan to achieve those goals.


The most important part of the MAP is the Culture Pyramid. We believe in Finding a Better Way, Expecting the Best, and Doing the Right Thing. Not only can we apply these concepts to our company and work ethic, we strive to apply them to our daily lives.
